Balderdash

I forgot Blogger had changed its system and I was momentarily taken aback by the new layout. Luckily for all of you, I forged ahead and found where they have now placed the "Post" button so that I could update all of you on my life.

Well, there isn't much to say, really. I've rediscovered how much I enjoy reading and have thus, with much effort, located my hometown library card and made numerous trips to the library. (Where I looked with horror on the new, separate, Teen Paranormal Reading Section next to the far superior Young Adult Reading Section.) I am slacking on updating my Goodreads though, so I should get around to that.

I would like to get a job creating a website that allows a person to search for a job based on their skills, years of experience, and education instead of searching by job title. I don't care what the job is called as long as I am qualified to do it! Really, no one is searching for the job titled "Senior Analyst, Meaningful Use IT Consulting", (sidenote: what makes IT Consulting meaningful anyway?) all they want to know is whether they have the qualifications for the position. I'm also running into problems applying for non-attorney jobs because I don't quite know what to put as my level of education. It's really only attorney positions who ask whether or not you've got a JD, everyone else is "Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate?" and I'm not really sure where a JD fits into that rigid hierarchy.  So frustrating.

I am really concerned about the new Facebook update, people. I have always counted on the general lethargy of my Facebook friends to not search high and low through my profile to find all the silly pictures I'm tagged in from the beginning of college, or the previous silly statuses I've written, or the things people have written on my wall. Since, however, Facebook now feels the need to put all that information in one easy loading, easy scrolling timeline, I am afraid I am going to have to spend hours putting into place new privacy settings. This is obnoxious. I also don't quite understand the new homepage update: The "top stories" are supposed to be from people that I am ... closest to? and then the "most recent stories" are everyone else? And then the little twitter-like feed in the top, right corner allows me to see real-time updates of what my all friends are doing (the same thing as the "most recent stories" or is this different)? Such as when they comment on someone's status that I'm not even friends with? It's making stalking people too easy. It's not even fun anymore. I also only get Facebook notifications in e-mail "batches" now and I've noticed that they come about 4 days after someone has sent something to me. Lame.

After some deliberation (I take my TV watching seriously), I've decided to start watching Downton Abbey. I wasn't sure whether to start watching Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire or Downton Abbey, but I figured that the second season of Game of Thrones is still some time away, Moi has started watching Boardwalk Empire so I will wait for her review, and since Doctor Who is finishing the season this Saturday, I might as well find something else British to watch. Here's the Downton Abbey Series 1 trailer.

That one was from PBS and the next one is from the original broadcaster, ITV.

0 made a huge mistake.:
