Tears

It's only 10:45am and two people in my office have already been crying. (Neither of them were me). We must all be starting our periods at the same time. Stupid.

Today, as I was perusing my igoogle page, I noticed that I still had the little box that gives the "How to of the Day" - it comes standard on all igoogle pages. One of the "How To" articles today is "How to Compete with Other Lemonade Stands".

WHAT?!?! I don't know about you guys, but I have lived in suburbs for most of my life, and there has never been more than one lemonade stand at a time. If someone put up a lemonade stand, everyone would go over and hang out at it; no one would set up a rival lemonade stand.

The first advice the article gives is to do market research. WHAT?!?! If I was 7 year old with a lemonade stand, the only research I would do is ask my mom if she would buy a cup of lemonade from me.

Another piece of advice is that if the stand gets busy, hire a friend. Yes, because 6 year olds employing other 6 year olds is exactly what this world needs.

My favorite bit of advice, however, is this line: "Sometimes somebody else nearby will be able to sell the same quality lemonade at a lower price than you can, even if you try to cut the cost of supplies. This may be because their parents are paying for everything and don’t care whether the stand actually makes enough money to pay for the supplies." To me this translates as:
CURSE THOSE CHILDREN WHOSE PARENTS WILL PAY FOR SUPPLIES!!!!!! It's not fair for all of us who have to break open our piggy banks to get our own supplies!!!!

If you want to peruse this lovely article for yourself, which also includes advice such as: "check local health ordinances if you are selling food" and "if you just don’t like to sell lemonade, consider other options, such as mowing lawns (if you’re old and strong enough), washing cars, or other "odd jobs"", you can click here.

0 made a huge mistake.:
