So. My exciting news. I'm moving to D.C. in January! I think I've told nearly everyone by now, but if you had not heard, now you know. An internship with the Coast Guard where I can work on international law. I am VERY excited.
I applied back in the beginning of October and spent nearly the entire month playing "what if" games about my future. If I got it, do I take it? If I don't get it, should I be disappointed? If I get it, is it too difficult to work out all the housing/academic credit/job prospect problems? If I don't get it, does that mean I should just settle with the one job prospect that I have? Can I afford it? Is it worth it even if I can't afford it? In the end, once I got the definitive word last week that I had been offered the position and then took a few days to decide to accept, I felt much better. So (for now at least) I can be excited.
I haven't been planning much for the spring semester yet, because I have to take a Very Important Ethics Test on Saturday. After that is done, then I can start worrying about sublets and trying to find housing for four months and setting up an independent study and organizing all of my bar prep courses and deciding what I am going to tell my firm about whether or not I'm coming back. Wow. What an exhausting list.
You are all welcome to visit of course. There is, sadly, no Les Halles location in D.C. anymore, but I am sure there are equally good places to eat, drink, and hang out. And, fingers crosses, there is another blizzard this year and I will get a week off school and work!
P.S. I think my metro stop will be the Navy Yard. Do you think the NCIS crew takes public transportation?
On a completely unrelated note, I realized today that Oprah does not play in the afternoon on any of the local channels around here. Thank goodness for the internet, so I did not miss this:

1 made a huge mistake.:
So...there is a great little French place just around the corner from the former Les Halles location, I think on 12th or 11th street. They have very, VERY tasty confit de canard!
Good luck with your Ethics test!
