Bamboozled

So, I moved into my new apartment this weekend. I hate moving. Really hate it. It's such a pain to put all your stuff into boxes and then the boxes into cars to drive a few hours and then unload everything. It's an even bigger pain when you have to do it with furniture: beds, shelves, chairs, futons. Yuck. Every apartment should come furnished and be nice. That's the other thing about the apartment. Once you move in and start unpacking and cleaning, you notice all the little details that you never notice the first time. Like there's a big dent in one wall. Or the light switch is crooked. Or the blinds are broken. Seriously, I don't want to be a grown-up anymore.

The one major problem with the apartment is that it's lonely! Which is why all of you need to come visit!! I have a futon AND an air mattress (what luxuries!) so you don't have to sleep on the floor. After living with roommates for four years, it's difficult to come home and be by myself. It's hard because I don't have the Internet yet, so I can't chat online and without cable, I only get a handful of channels. Maybe I should get a pet?

But, thank goodness the Olympics are on! I love watching the Olympics, cheering people on, judging people when they fail, and admiring all the wonderful physiques (swimming, how I love thee!) But (and this is only since I am SO very bored) I am also enjoying all the little pieces that they are doing about China. Why couldn't my East Asia class be as interesting as this?! When I do get to work in the morning and have the Internet, I read as much as I can about the non-sport aspects of the Olympics. They are far more interesting. Yeah, there are compelling stories about relay races (America over France!) and fencing sweeps (all from ivy league schools, the only place in America where fencing still exists) and world records being broken. But the more interesting stories are little girls who aren't cute enough for opening ceremonies or underage Chinese gymnasts or how China is going to take our own language from us. And the most interesting story of all was little-Earthquake-hero-boy who walked in the Opening Ceremonies. I want one little-Earthquake-hero-boy for myself. How cute was he?!

Orientation for law school starts this weekend and I already have homework. I am supposed to read a case and brief it and be ready to discuss it (Socratic-method-style) in one of our orientation sessions. I'm beginning to rethink the whole law school thing. Anyone want to make soap and sell it on the street? I call the name Rain! (cookies for you if you know where that's from!) Lately, I've also been running into a bunch of people who all know people who are also going to be starting at my law school. I was even friended on Facebook by someone who went to my high school because she is also attending the law school I am. Lame. If it took us 4 years to friend each other on Facebook, we are clearly not going to be close friends now.

Also poll: Fan or not a fan of the new Facebook? I, personally, am a fan because I like being able to see someone's wall and updates right away without having to scroll through a million applications and "Advanced Wall" and "Fingerpainting" or whatever it's called.

3 made a huge mistake.:

Oh my dear friend I would volunteer to come stay with you this weekend since it is like the last weekend before I move to DC, but you have to do the silly law school stuff!!

But seriously, if you aren't too busy, I would love to crash on your futon and watch the olympics!

Ooh! Ooh! Pick me!!! ::: waves :::

I would most definitely come and play.

Also, you need to get a pet. I WILL COME PET SHOPPING WITH YOU! MWAHAHA!

I haven't even seen the new Facebook. How bad am I? Very.

Awwww...I will come and play, but my life is crazy right now. Oh! When you get internet, we can have homework parties!

Yay!

Also, I vote "yes" for new facebook. I, too, enjoy not being forcibly subjected to idiotic add-ons when all I want to do it write "merr".
