We Get To Go Home!

I am alive. I can quickly see that I will have NO time this semester. It is going to be very stressful. I HAVE to spend 1-2 hours a night on each class just to be able to follow what is going on in class. It's not that I don't understand the reading, because I can follow most of it, it's more that the professors do not want you to look at your notes or the book when they ask you a question. So I read 3-6 cases a night per class and then attempt to memorize them. Ugh. My daily routine consists basically of staying up until 2 (like now) or 3am doing homework, going to sleep for 4 hours, getting up around 7:30-8 to catch the bus, go to my morning class, either come home for lunch or eat lunch at school but review for the afternoon class at the same time, go to afternoon class, go to TA review session, come home, nap until 7 or 8, get up, make dinner, study some more.

I would say lame here, but I really am too exhausted to say it with any vehemence.

The wedding in Iowa was fun. It was nice to just relax and not worry about things. My reading ability is stellar (I think I am now the defacto reader at all family weddings). Lil Sis took a bunch of cute pics (thanks Lil Sis for not posting the crappy ones!) and put them on Facebook, so I got a new profile pic out of it.

I subscribed to Radar to come to my apartment. I got tired of looking for it in stores. Only $10.00 for 10 issues! They are practically giving it away.

I think I am getting a cold. And it's only September. You know, I probably have mono. ;)

I hung pictures up on my walls. It's weird that this is actually beginning to feel like a place I live at and not just someplace I rent.

I can't wait to visit with you guys. It is seriously one of the few things that I am looking forward to right now.

I had criminal law today. The professor has basically laid out for us the different types of murder and then we read a case and instead of talking about what the court decided, he makes us take the facts of the case and decide what we would charge. I think it's very effective at making me learn what the different aspects of murder are. Today we were discussing felony murder, which is murder that is committed at the same time a felony is being committed. The case was discussing whether distributing cocaine is an inherently dangerous felony (meaning, is there a high probability that a death will result from it). The professor polled the class asking whether we thought that there was a high probability that someone will die from someone else distributing cocaine. Most of us said no, it is not likely. The professor concurred saying, "I mean, we all know kids here at this University do cocaine and it's not like we have to step over dead bodies to get to class. But is there a probability that a death will result from someone distributing cocaine? Maybe. Who knows, a Colombian may just jump out of the bushes and shoot you!"

And then he pretended to jump out of the bushes and shoot people.
He also gave himself a "lie detector test" using the cord to the projector and diffused a "bomb" using the recycle bin as a bomb.

I have to give him credit though. He tells us to read the facts of the case like they are stories/movies so we remember them. And as we review the cases, he acts them out. But, I remember nearly every case we discussed after class.

I went to buy Season 4 of the Office when it was released on Tuesday. Due to my inability to go at 7am like I did last year, by the time I got to Target, they were sold out of the special edition Season 4 packs with the Office notepad. In fact, they had no more copies of Season 4 in the store. I had to go to Best Buy to get it - but they had copies with the script to one of the episodes in it, so it's some consolation I guess.

In case you haven't seen it or all the stores in YOUR area are sold out, here's the blooper reel from Season 4. It's hilarious.

1 made a huge mistake.:

Hope! said...
